About SAMA Autisme Centrum:

SAMA Autisme Centrum was founded in the spring of 2024 in Amstelveen and aims to treat and guide children between the ages of 3 and 12 with autisme and/ or related disorders. Our centrum stands for excellent care and innovation, in which we believe in a broad approach that pays attention to the potential of each child.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for enthousiastic interns with:

  • A study background in psychology, pedagogy or a comparable direction on WO level;

  • Passion for healthcare and supporting children with autism and/ or related disorders;

  • Minimal Dutch level of A2/B1;

  • A proactive stance and good communication skills;

  • Ethically conscious and professional responsibility;


As intern at SAMA Autisme Centrum you learn/ get:

  • Advanced Diagnostic Skills:
    As intern you gain experience with multiple different diagnostical instrument. Including IQ-tests, standardised questionaires, behavioral observations, and structured interviews. You learn to integrate multiple sources of information into well-founded psychological assessments and contribute to diagnostic formulations. Interns also apply relevant theoretical knowledge from developmental psychology, clinical psychology, and orthopedagogy to interpret assessment data and guide treatment recommendations.

  • Treatment and Intervention:
    Interns develop in-depth knowledge of the treatment process, including writing evidence-based treatment plans, understanding and applying clinical procedures, and monitoring progress. You will implement therapeutic goals, such as communication, behavioural regulation, and social skills, while monitoring outcomes. Interns participate in delivering evidence-based methods, structure the environment for clients, apply approaches such as TEACCH, and collaborate with schools to support client development. You will also conduct psychoeducation sessions with parents and co-facilitate parent workshops. Master’s-level interns are expected to critically evaluate and integrate theory into practice, making informed clinical decisions.

  • Communication Skills & Reporting
    Interns strengthen communication abilities by organizing and contributing to parent workshops and parent training sessions. You will develop skills in psychological interviewing and professional reporting, including writing session reports and diagnostic reports. This ensures clear and structured documentation of observations, assessments, and interventions, supporting effective communication with parents, schools, and colleagues. Master’s-level interns also practice presenting findings and case analyses to multidisciplinary teams in a structured, evidence-based manner.

  • Professional and Personal Development
    Interns are supported in their growth through individual supervision and guidance from a Master-level psychologist-clinical supervisor. You will also actively participate in group supervision and intervision sessions. These formats provide space for reflection, peer consultation, receiving feedback, and developing self-awareness, helping them build a strong professional identity. At Master’s level, interns are expected to demonstrate professional autonomy, ethical awareness, and advanced clinical reasoning.

  • Academic (WO-level) Preparation
    This internship is designed for Master’s students in Psychology or Orthopedagogy (WO level). It bridges theory and practice, ensuring that interns develop competencies aligned with academic and postgraduate expectations, and prepares you for future roles in clinical practice and related fields. As intern you will also engage with relevant literature, evidence reviews, or small-scale research projects, contributing to the knowledge base of clinical and behavioural practice.

  • Compensation:

    An internship compension following the CAO disability care, € 500,- Een stagevergoeding in overleg volgens CAO gehandicaptenzorg € 500,- at a 36 hour work week.
