Care

The SAMA Method

The SAMA method was developed to connect to the everchanging needs of children with autism. The method combines group oriënted treatment with personal guidance and aims to strengthen skills that children need to function in schools, social situations and society.

The basis

Within the SAMA method health care and education are purposely connected to eachother, A lot of children with autism have something to gain with a treatment in which therapeutic goals and learning goals strengthen eachother.

The developmental goals within the SAMA method are based on:

  • Behavioural science and behavioural analysis

  • CED-guidlines for development and education.

  • Clinical experience and expertise of psychologists.

  • Observations and evaluations within everyday practice.

With this we answer the need for care of children and help them with growing towards going to school or a daycarecentrum.

Structure and Safety all tailor-made

The SAMA method works with a clear structure, predictability and safety. Children with autism learn best in an environment where its clear what's happening and what's expected of them.

The guidance is based on:

  • The developmental level of each child.

  • Individual needs and possibilities.

  • A childs pace and load capacity

We don't only look at the difficulties, instead we focus on whats possible to help a child grow.

Learning in a group, with personal guidance

An important point of the SAMA method is the combination os group oriënted treatment and personal guidance. Children practice skills together with their peers, in a setting comparable to school.

Simultanously there's always room for individual support. This way we can take care of each child so they can:

  • Participate on their own level.

  • Get enough guidance.

  • Gain succesful experiences

This treatment helps children develop skills together with the ability to apply these skills to different situations.

Parents as active partners

Parent play an important role in the SAMA method. What a child learns within the centrum, only becomes natural when this is supported at home and in other environments.

That's why parent training is a mandatory part of the treatment process. Parents gain insight in:

  • The goals and treating of their child.

  • How they can connect with the guidance at home.

  • How they can offer structure and predictability to their child.

Together we can provide a consistent approach for the child.

Development on multiple domains

Within the SAMA Method we work on developing mulitple area's, including:

  • Social interaction and working together.

  • Deal with rules, structure and agreements.

  • Emotional regulation and resilience.

  • Independency and self reliance.

  • School skills and learning attitude.

The goals are built up step nu step and evaluated and adjusted regularly.

The Future

The SAMA method focuses on the future. Our goal is to prepare children as much as possible for:

  • Functioning within a school and/ or group environment.

  • Transitioning to fitting (special) education where possible.

  • More independency in daily life.

We bridge the gap between therapy, education and home situations. So development doesn't stand apart from the reality, but instead can be directly applied.
